Education: Northern Youths Appeal To ASUU to call off strike.

The Youth Wing of the Northern Union (NU) on Sunday in Ilorin called
on members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to call
off its strike in the interest of innocent students.

This is contained in a statement  jointly signed by its National Coordinator, Kolo Majin Jerry and Publicity Secretary, Malam Mohammed Katun.

The statement argued that the N30 billion released to the universities for the improvement of infrastructure was enough incentive for the lecturers to call off the strike.

"The Nigerian students, who represent the future leaders, bear the brunt of the strike.
"Beyond this point, it will be believed that ASUU is only hiding under the agitation for improved educational infrastructure to pursue their personal welfare while endangering the students' future.

"That ASUU abandoning classrooms for about two months in a fight against its employer on the pretence of infrastructure improvement will amount only to an act of insubordination and breach of work ethics.

"We are conscious as youths that, even in a law court, a debtor has the privilege to reschedule payment when at a point it gets too difficult or at best pay in instalments.
"The Nigerian students, as potential future leaders, are tired of sitting at home and want to return to their campuses."
