SPORT: Pulis Takes Aim At Moyes.

Tony Pulis has lent his voice to the chorus of criticism levelled at Manchester United manager David Moyes regarding his handling of the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils' summer transfer window has been labelled an abject failure by many pundits and fans. However, it is not David Moyes' failure to sign players that concerns former Stoke City manager Tony Pulis, but rather it is the manner in which the former Everton manager has dealt with his old club.

Throughout the summer Moyes had expressed interest in bringing Toffees due Leighton Baines and Marouane Fellaini from Goodison Park to Old Trafford, and although Everton rejected all offers for Baines, Moyes managed to sign Fellaini just before the transfer window closed on Monday night.

"David's got the player that he wanted but the one disappointing thing for me is that David ha[d] been at Everton for 10 years." Pulis told the BBC. "Why couldn't the deals have been done behind the scenes?

"Waiting for the last minute [to sign Fellaini], [after] he's had a great relationship with [Everton chairman] Bill Kenwright - that's the only disappointing thing for me in that respect," he added.

United's delay in signing the Belgian international is all the more confounding when considering that they had to pay £27million for the midfielder after allowing a £23.5million buyout clause in Fellaini's contract to expire on the July 31.

United chief executive Ed Woodward and Moyes will have to answer some of these questions if they are to mollify the club's board and fans, who will be seething after watching several high profile targets slip through the club's transfer net.
